Finally made it out to see a game in the Valley League last night. It was great fun, and thanks to Austin and Charlie for letting me join them in the New Market (Va.) Rebels' broadcast "booth." I'm coming back next year for the Full Moon game.

Meeting you at the New Market Rebels' regular season finale was a "Grand Slam" occasion. As a sports stringer for the "Northern Virginia Daily," I have the enjoyable task of covering the Rebels and several other Valley Baseball League teams. Our five minutes of (inevitably interrupted by other fans) chat was thoroughly enjoyable (need to follow up on that Buffalo area connection). Glad to know that you got to enjoy the legendary Rebel Park concession stand grilled onions on your hot dogs. I picked up "High Heat," and have completed about two innings of this book about a fascinating aspect of baseball. I give the book an unreserved "terrific" rating. It deserves the Cy Young award equivalent for baseball books. I'll be checking your blog frequently and look forward to your next visit to see the Rebels and our beautiful Shenandoah ( reputedly, "Daughter of the Stars" in some Native American tongue) Valley.
